Mutton or chicken 1 kg, washed / cleaned, cut into pieces
Rice basmati 1 kg, soaked for 15 minutes
Potatoes 4, steam lightly, peel and cut into large pieces
Tomatoes 6, quartered
Onions 4 medium, finely sliced
Coconut 250g grid
Salt to taste
Yogurt 1 cup
Mint 1 bunch, finely chopped
Green chillies 6 whole
Ginger-garlic paste 1, 1/2 tbsp
Hot milk 1 cup
Ghee/oil 1 cup
Lemon juice of 2


Heat oil in a pan, add onion and let it brown and then add chicken. yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, green chillies, salt, chili powder, cumin powder,all spice powder with 1 cup fried onion and cook till tender. Boil rice with 1 tbsp salt and whole spices till half done. In a pan layer half of the rice, cover with chicken mixture, then potatoes, 1/2 cup fried onion, chopped coriander and green chillies. Now layer the remaining rice on top. When done drizzle kewra essence on top, delicious Bombay Biryani is ready. Serve with fresh raita and salad.
